Contact Lenses

Everything You Want to Know

Tired of glasses? It may be time for you to seriously consider contact lenses.

Contact lenses have experienced tremendous technological advancements over the last few years. So much so that people who were once poor candidates for contacts have successfully made the switch. No longer do they need to worry about bulky frames, smudged lenses, or fumbling around the house trying to find their glasses.

Contacts are available for those of us who are nearsighted, farsighted, or for those with astigmatism. Regardless of your prescription, you will find there's a wide variety of contact lenses from which to choose. Some of the more common contact lenses available are:

To make things even better contact lenses have significantly been reduced in price, especially for those who purchase online!

Discount Contact Lenses - Online

Before you can purchase discount contact lenses online you will first need to visit your optometrist. Your optometrist will fit you with the proper contact lenses for your eyes. Afterwards you can purchase replacement contacts from many of the reputable online vendors. These vendors sell the same contact lenses your optometrist does, but at huge discounts!

Types of Contact Lenses

Please feel free to navigate this site, you will find a lot of information about the different types of contact lenses available, including:

Disposable Contact Lenses

This section includes information about all disposable lenses, from daily disposables, to frequent replacement lenses, as well as extended wear lenses. Disposable lenses offer the widest selection and are available in toric, bifocal, or as colored contacts.

Vial Lenses

This section has information on vial lenses (conventional lenses). These lenses can last up to a year withou replacement and are available in toric, bifocal, or as colored contacts.

Bifocal Lenses

These lenses are made for a condition known as presbyopia, making it possible for you to see clearly when focusing both close-up and far-away.

Toric Lenses

These lenses are made for people with astigmatism. They are soft lenses designed with two prescriptions oriented in a particular way. Should you have a high degree of astigmatism such that toric lenses do not allow you to have crisp vision, you may find that RGP lenses are a better fit for you.

RGP Lenses

These lenses are hard lenses. While most contact lenses are made of a soft hydrogel material, hard contact lenses are also a very commendable choice, particularly if you suffer from a high degree of astigmatism. They are made of a silicone-based material which does not mould itself to your eye and therefore presents a whole new system of wearing and cleaning.

Colored Contacts

There are four basic types of colored contact lenses: enhancement tint, opaque color tint, light-filtering tint, and visibility tint. Of these the enhancement tint and opaque color tint contact lenses are intended to cosmetically change the color of your eyes. Light-filtering tint colored contact lenses are intended to enhance color vision, such as enhancing the yellowy-green of a tennis ball. And lastly visibility tint colored contacts are used exclusively for assisting with locating the lens when it's not in your eyes.
