Astigmatism
What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a very common vision problem that can occur with either nearsightedness or farsightedness. It is caused by an irregularly-shaped cornea, such that it is shaped more like a football rather than a baseball, which is normal. Correction of this condition can be achieved with contact lenses
(toric contact lenses or
RGP contact lenses),
eyeglasses, or even refractive surgery.
