How often should I replace contacts that are worn only part-time?

If you only wear your contact lenses part-time, they should last past the due date recommended for regular wear. If your contact lenses are two-week disposable, then they should last for up to 14 days of wear, regardless of the length of time between wearing them.

That being said, don't expect your contact lenses to last for months and months, just because you only wear them once or twice a month. All contact lenses have an expiry date, after which they are susceptible to build-up and breakage. Once contact lenses have been taken out of their vial or blister pack, their days become even more limited, because they have been exposed to the air. In order to maximize the life of your contact lenses, make sure to thoroughly clean them after each wear to make sure they are as sterile as possible while they are sitting in the contact lens case.
