Contact Lens FAQs
Do I still need a prescription if I just want contacts to change my eye color?
Anyone who wears
contact lenses
requires a prescription. There is more to a contact lens prescription besides the power of the lens. Your optometrist will be able to decide on the proper size contact lens for each of your eyes. You can find this information on the box of contact lenses: DIA refers to the diameter of the contact lens and BC refers to the base curve (see
contact lens prescription numbers).
Both values are just as important in a
contact lens prescription
as the actual power of the contact lenses. Although they may look different and be used for a different purpose,
color contact lenses
are still considered medical devices and should be treated with due care and attentiveness.
