Why is there a blur to the side when I wear color contact lenses?

With opaque lenses, you will not be able to see clearly through the pigmented portion of the contact lens. This will become noticeable with each blink, when the contact lens moves on your eye and as you look through the colored part of the contact lens for a split second. You will also notice that side vision (periphery) may be a little more hazy than you are used to. This is also due to the pigment in the contact lens. Although this can be rather irritating at first, you do become accustomed to it with time.
